OUR ENSEMBLES

The Bands of Cypress Creek have experienced great growth and success since the program’s inception in 2017, including our first Superior rating in 2021, the addition of 4 new ensembles in 2021, our award-winning FMBC season in 2022, and our record setting FFCC season in 2023.

For a regularly enrolled band student coming from M/J band 2 or 3, they will perform with the Superior Band of Coyotes Marching Band and either the Symphonic Band or Wind Ensemble. Both ensembles feature performance opportunities at Florida Bandmaster’s Association Music Performance Assessments, the Pasco-Hernando State College Instructional Performing Arts Center, various community events, local colleges, and more!

Did you know that any high school student can take band, regardless of experience? All you need to do is select “Band 1” on your course card!! Current band students can also take this course to learn a new instrument for enrichment purposes.

Band 1 students will have the opportunity to choose from Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Alto Saxophone, Trumpet, Horn, Trombone, Euphonium, Tuba, or Percussion to begin their musical journey. All students start from the very beginning with basic musician skills and curriculum.

At the end of the year, students will either “graduate” beginning band into regular high school band, or will be recommended for a second year of remediation before moving up. This ensemble will perform 2-3 times this year, including a winter concert, spring concert, and the Florida Bandmaster’s Association Music Performance Assessment.

The Cypress Creek Color Guard was established in 2017 when Cypress Creek HS was founded. In 2022, the color guard began to compete in the Florida Federation of Colorguards Circuit (FFCC). The CCHS Winterguard is proud to perform “My Universe” — a love letter to the one person in your life that is your everything. At 2024 premiere, the CCHS Winterguard beat their 2023 premiere score by 17 points, setting a program record for highest premiere score.

Our Colorguard is directed by Ms. Carly Bronson and assisted by Mrs. Strok-Feeley.

Coming off of their 2023 season where they barely missed bronze, the CCHS indoor percussion ensemble is aiming for Immortality. Their 2024 production follows an pharoah’s quest for immortality, but the ensemble’s current trajectory is already cementing their place in CCHS history with a program-high premiere score for 2024. Don’t count them out.

The Indoor Percussion Ensemble is directed by Mr. Brenden Dozier, Mr. Trevor Feeley, Ms. Rachel Henry, Mr. Patrick O’Donnell, and Mrs. Katherine Strok-Feeley.

In 2021, the Jazz Studies program was added to the Conservatory of Music. This program focuses on real world applications of jazz studies–student lead rehearsals with a focus on gig driven rehearsal practices and improvisation led pedagogy. Students learn how to seek out performances through writing professional emails and working with promoters and managers to get themselves a performance.

The CCHS Jazz Ensemble has opened for the Tampa Bay Big Band and currently holds a monthly residency at the CCHS cafe.
