Having a Criminal Justice Academy in high schools provides numerous benefits to students. Firstly, it allows interested individuals to explore their passion for law enforcement and gain insight into the workings of this critical field. Through hands-on training and classroom instruction, students will develop a solid foundation in criminal justice practices, procedures, and ethics.
Our academy offers a comprehensive program designed to prepare students for careers in the field of criminal justice. With a curriculum covering multiple facets of law enforcement, we offer four levels of training: Criminal Justice I (cadet year), Criminal Justice II (patrol year), Criminal Justice III (investigative year), and Criminal Justice IV (911 Dispatch).
Our cadet year, Criminal Justice I, lays the groundwork for future learning by introducing students to the fundamental principles of criminal justice. In the patrol year (Criminal Justice II), students further their understanding by engaging in practical exercises, simulations, and fieldwork to develop essential skills related to community policing and public safety.
Once students’ progress to the investigative year (Criminal Justice III), they delve deeper into the world of crime scene investigations, forensic techniques, and evidence collection. This level of training equips students with the knowledge and skills required to solve complex cases and understand the intricacies of criminal investigations.
The program also recognizes the critical role played by dispatchers in emergency situations. Criminal Justice IV focuses on training students to become capable and efficient 911 dispatchers for police, fire, and emergency medical services. This hands-on experience strengthens their communication and decision-making skills, allowing them to be at the forefront of emergency responses. Importantly, after students have completed our 911 Public Safety Telecommunicator (PST) Program they apply for and sit for the Florida 911 PST certification. After successful completion of the certification test, students are eligible to apply for employment with local agencies as a dispatcher.
