Join the Beginning Band!

Did you know that any high school student can join band—no experience required? Beginning Band is the perfect opportunity to learn an instrument and develop essential music skills from the ground up. Students can choose from a variety of instruments, including flute, oboe, clarinet, alto saxophone, trumpet, horn, trombone, euphonium, tuba, or percussion.

Throughout the year, you’ll build confidence as a musician, perform in exciting concerts like our Winter and Spring showcases, and even participate in the Florida Bandmasters Association Music Performance Assessment. By the end of the course, students will either advance into our full high school band program or continue refining their skills for future success. Whether you’re brand new to music or looking to learn a second instrument, Beginning Band is your chance to create something amazing!

Become an Emerging Artist!

The Emerging Artist Ensemble is the premier entry point for aspiring young performers ready to take their first step into the world of professional musicianship. Designed as a beginning-level ensemble with elevated purpose and vision, this course invites students to develop their foundational skills while embracing the mindset, discipline, and creativity of a true performing artist.
In this ensemble, students will explore the essential techniques of instrumental performance, ensemble collaboration, music literacy, and artistic expression. But unlike a traditional “starter band,” members of the Emerging Artist Ensemble are immersed in a conservatory‑style environment—one that nurtures talent, celebrates growth, and sets high expectations for effort, focus, and personal musical excellence.

As students train, they will:
  • Build strong technical fundamentals on their chosen instrument
  • Develop ensemble awareness and learn to perform with confidence
  • Strengthen music‑reading, rhythm, and ear‑training skills
  • Participate in guided rehearsals that mirror professional rehearsal standards
  • Explore performance etiquette, stage presence, and artistic interpretation
  • Prepare for advanced placement within the Conservatory ensembles

This course is ideal for students who dream of performing onstage, creating art that inspires others, and dedicating themselves to the rewarding journey of becoming a skilled musician. Expectations are high—but so are the rewards. By the end of the year, students will have not only advanced their musical abilities, but also gained confidence, discipline, and the artistic mindset needed to thrive in the Conservatory and beyond.

The Emerging Artist Ensemble isn’t just a beginning band. It’s the launchpad for the next generation of performers.

Step Into the Spotlight with Jazz Studies

Started in 2021, our Jazz Program gives students the chance to experience the excitement of playing jazz in a real-world setting. Rehearsals focus on teamwork, creativity, and learning how to improvise—one of the most important parts of jazz music.

Any band student in grades 9–12! To be part of the jazz program, you must also be enrolled in a band class. If you love music and want to explore jazz, this is the perfect opportunity to grow as a musician and performer.

Join the Cypress Creek Color Guard

The Cypress Creek Color Guard has been an exciting part of our school’s performing arts program since 2017. In 2022, we proudly began competing in the Florida Federation of Colorguards Circuit (FFCC), showcasing our talent and creativity on a larger stage.

Color Guard offers two unique performance opportunities:

  • Fall Color Guard – Performs alongside the Band of Coyotes during marching season.
  • Winter Guard – A standalone ensemble that competes and performs during the winter and spring.

No prior experience is required—any student can audition! If you’re looking for a way to express yourself through movement, dance, and visual performance, Color Guard is the perfect place to shine.
