First, I want to share how incredibly proud I am of our students. After my announcement yesterday, we had minimal tardies this morning. What today’s results showed me is that our students are absolutely capable of meeting our expectations for arriving to school and class on time. I know that success is due in large part to the guidance, support, and encouragement they receive from you at home, and I want to sincerely thank you for your partnership.

In my announcement yesterday, I shared with students that tardy consequences would begin to be cumulative for the remainder of the school year. It is clear that this adjustment is necessary to help guide students toward being where they need to be, when they need to be there. Today’s results proved just that. When expectations are clear and we work together as a school and family team, our students rise to meet them.

To ensure every student starts out on the right paw, and to provide families time to review our expectations together, Cypress Creek High School will reset all student tardies to zero on Monday, November 2. This fresh start gives every Coyote an equitable opportunity to begin under our updated system with a clean slate.

Beginning Monday, tardies will no longer reset at the end of each quarter. Instead, they will accumulate for the remainder of the school year. We are hopeful that this reset, combined with our adjustment to a cumulative tardy policy, will help keep us on the right track of arriving on time and ready to learn each day. You can find a link to our policy and the Student Code of Conduct in this week’s Community Howler Hub.

We are asking for your continued partnership in helping your child establish routines that support punctuality, including preparing for school the night before, setting alarms, and allowing enough time in the morning to arrive on campus and report to class before the bell rings.

Please be aware that excessive tardiness will result in a progressive loss of privileges and disciplinary consequences. Our goal is not to punish students, but to help them build responsibility, accountability, and habits that will serve them well in high school and beyond.

Thank you for your continued support of Cypress Creek High School. We are working hard every day to give our students our very best, and we need them here and on time to receive the best we have to offer. Together, we can ensure every Coyote is present, punctual, prepared, and ready to learn.

Please be sure to read the entire Community Howler Hub for complete details on this updated policy and much more happening at Cypress Creek High School.
